Human Resource Management (HRM) - Objectives, Functions, Definition

Definition: A strategic planning process of managing employees/ workers in an organization by systemically defining and carefully creating policies, systems, objectives and functions of recruitment, training and development procedures alongside overseeing employee benefits, appraisal, and performance, is known as Human Resource Management (HRM). An individual responsible for supervising and managing organizational procedures as well as people within the organization is professionally known as HR.

The purpose of appointing an HR professional for HRM is to efficiently manage human capital in an organization, preserve assets of the company, plan employees career right from recruitment to retirement, create effective and engaging policies to ensure the presence of good workplace environment, and help with the business growth. Moreover, the responsibility of recruiting, selecting, inducting employees, imparting training and development, appraising the performance of workers, finalizing compensation, motivating employees, ensuring proper relations with employee and employer, providing employees safe, equality and healthy work atmosphere, falls on the shoulders of the HR department.

The general objectives of human resource management (HRM) are:
